Sheela is available to visit your school, library, or book club in New York City, Westchester County, and for select visits in the Northeast region. Below are some suggested topics for an author visit or writing workshop with Sheela. She is also happy to customize and tailor a program to fit your requirements, or do a presentation over Skype.
SAMPLE VISIT AND WORKSHOP
How To Write a Mystery. In this workshop, Sheela will discuss the top ingredients for any good mystery. Students will talk about clues, suspects, motives, false trails, and other tricks of the trade that an author uses to keep her readers reading. Students will also get to start writing their own mystery story in class.
Half Day: $600, 2 sessions
Full Day: $900, 3 sessions, with a break for lunch
Details: A session can be a workshop or presentation. Workshops must be run in a classroom setting where each student has a desk and/or adequate table space on which to write. An ideal workshop class
consists of 25 or less students. Presentations can be scaled for either an individual class or grade (for
example, the 4th grade). For larger presentations involving more than one grade (assembly style) please add an additional $25 fee per presentation. For schools that demonstrate a financial hardship in covering these fees, please email Sheela directly at firstname.lastname@example.org to discuss a negotiated rate.
Contract. Once an agreement is made about the date, time, and visit, a contract describing the event will be signed by Sheela and the school. To book Sheela, please email her at email@example.com.
