VISITS

Sheela is available to visit your school, library, or book club in New York City and Westchester County. Below are some suggested topics for an author visit or writing workshop with Sheela. She is also happy to customize and tailor a program to fit your requirements, or do a presentation over Skype.

VISITS AND WORKSHOPS
The Story Behind the Story. Sheela will share her journey to becoming a novelist. She will discuss how writing has changed from the time she was growing up in Iowa, and how it has stayed the same. Along the way, Sheela and students will talk about rough drafts, editors, and how no idea is too strange for a novel.

How To Write a Mystery. In this workshop, Sheela will discuss the top ingredients for any good mystery. Students will talk about clues, suspects, motives, false trails, and other tricks of the trade that an author uses to keep her readers reading. Students will also get to start writing their own mystery story in class.
